Jutiapa, by AGN. – The municipality of San José Acatempa, Jutiapa, celebrated its highly anticipated Patron Saint Festival of San José Acatempa in honor of the Virgen de la Piedad, patron saint of the municipality. From February 2 to 6, visitors enjoyed an extensive program of activities, including exciting traditional events and entertainment for the whole family.
One of the most outstanding attractions was the International Rodeo, which attracted riders from different parts of the country to compete in a show full of skill and bravery. Local riders also joined the competition, demonstrating their talent for riding bulls and horses.

The “carreras de cintas” (Traditional horse belt races) were another highlight of the festival. Local and visiting riders joined in this exciting competition, demonstrating their skillfulness and agility as they tried to catch the suspended stripes’ clothes while galloping at full speed. The excitement and competitive spirit were present in every race.
The traditional greasy pole contest was one of the most expected moments. Participants demonstrated skill and determination as they attempted to climb a greasy pole to reach the surprise prize at the top.
