Guatemala City, by -AGN- In the presence of President Bernardo Arévalo, as an honorary witness, the Guatemalan Tourism Institute -Inguat- and the company Líneas Aéreas de España, S.A. -Iberia-, signed a letter of understanding to strengthen and promote relations between Guatemala and Europe, especially in tourism.
This agreement facilitates air connectivity and the promotion of the diversity of the country’s tourist sites in the European network. The Director of Inguat, Harris Whitbeck, and Fernando Candela, President of Iberia, signed the agreement.

Strategic alliance
Whitbeck highlighted the strategic importance of the agreement, as it increases Guatemala’s exposure as a top tourist destination. It also leverages Iberia’s promotional opportunities and sales networks.
The director of Inguat commented, “We are very pleased to announce that Iberia serves as the direct link between Guatemala and Europe, with daily flights between the two countries. This alliance aims to increase the number of passengers from Spain and the airline’s connections to other destinations.”
Whitbeck emphasized that the letter of understanding with Iberia represents a significant step forward in positioning Guatemala as one of the most outstanding destinations in Latin America.
The agreement also meets the goal of the government policy of President Arévalo and Vice President Herrera, which is to strengthen cooperation between nations. It also enhances the attraction of investments and the consolidation of the tourism industry as a fundamental engine for the country’s progress.
