During the ceremony, the vice president expressed her conviction that this commitment marks an achievement in the history of the country by appointing cabinet officials who, with their teams, are writing new chapters in the fight against sexual violence, exploitation, and human trafficking.

She said, “We are making a difference in the history of this country by appointing officials to the cabinet who, along with their teams, are collaborating with these new chapters in the history we are writing.”

Commitment assurance

The activity highlights the importance of a formal public commitment by government authorities. Such a voluntary act underlines the determination to join the collective efforts to combat sexual violence, exploitation, and human trafficking in the country.

The Government recognizes the urgency of preventing, suppressing, and eradicating sexual violence and is committed to strengthening the State’s efforts to guarantee human rights and fundamental freedoms. This commitment reflects a steadfast stance in defending the basic rights of the Guatemalan population.

The signing of the Commitment Letter symbolizes a landmark in the fight against sexual violence, exploitation, and human trafficking; it also evidences the unity of the authorities and society in building a future where everyone can live free of these scourges.
