Guatemala City, by Yuliza Muñoz -AGN-. The Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) has agreed to donate $300,000 to Guatemala in response to the emergency caused by the fire season, especially the forest fire in the Volcán de Agua.
Through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it expressed its solidarity with the Guatemalan people, highlighting its support for the rescue and recovery of the country.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China (Taiwan), the donation was made to Guatemala to assist a fellow country. Such aid is granted in response to the emergency and after requesting support from the international community to join disaster response efforts.

Equipment donation
Taiwan’s technical mission in Guatemala has donated funds to provide firefighting staff with the proper tools to deal with the disaster. The following items are included among the aid provided:
- safety helmets
- sets of electric-wireless equipment
- 1,000 boxes of instant noodles in support of rescue forces

Fire fighting
Brigaders fighting the Volcán de Agua fire have been operating for four days. The National Coordinator for the Reduction of Disasters mentioned that thanks to the efforts of the aid crews, 60% control of the fire has been achieved.
Staff from the Ministry of Defense, Volunteer and Municipal Firefighters, the National Council of Protected Areas, the National Forest Institute, and the Ministry of Social Development, among others, are working in a coordinated manner to manage this emergency.
