Guatemala City, by Yuliza Muñoz -AGN- The Guatemalan Government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs -Minex-, strongly condemns the attacks on Israel from Gaza.
The Executive branch issued an official statement expressing deep concern about the acts perpetrated against the Israeli people from Gaza. It also emphasized its solidarity with the people and government of Israel.
President Alejandro Giammattei conveyed his condolences to the affected families through his official X (Twitter) account. The President shared Guatemala’s support for Israel in these difficult times and extended the nation’s solidarity to the victims’ families.
The Events
According to local media reports, Israel went into war preparedness after the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas launched a wave of rocket attacks from the Gaza Strip in the early hours.
These attacks have resulted in fatalities and injuries among the population. Locally, this operation has been named the “Storm of Al Aqsa.”
Previous Attacks
Israel experienced similar attacks in May. Sirens were activated in Tel Aviv and the cities of Sdérot, Ashdod, and Ascalón.
According to Israeli diplomats, over 270 missiles were launched from Gaza, followed by the presence of armed groups. In response, the Israeli Army targeted three facilities of the Hamas movement, responsible for the attacks.
The Guatemalan Government maintains its stance of supporting Israel. Guatemala stands in solidarity with this important ally and reaffirms its complete support, as in previous occasions.
