President Giammattei: “This Is the Best Destination to Invest, Visit, Live, and Share.”

Guatemala City, (AGN) – During the presentation of the Guatemala Country Brand, President Alejandro Giammattei highlighted the importance of spreading the national image to generate more tourism and investment and boost exports.

According to President Giammattei, these efforts seek to create thousands of jobs for the welfare of Guatemalan families.

He emphasized the opportunities the country offers, despite the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The collective work in the economic reactivation allowed the country to close 2021 with an 8% GDP growth rate, which was reflected in the improvement of the country’s perspective by the international credit rating agencies.

A Brand to the World

The president said, “With its brand, Guatemala will show the world that this is the best destination to invest, visit, live, and share, and to discover the richness we have.”

He pointed out that this goes along with the cultural identity of the Guatemalan people, which possess a richness that has run in their blood for more than 3,000 years based on the ancestral culture of the Mayan civilization, one of the most important civilizations of humankind.

Driving Force for Development

The president mentioned that this strategy includes the cultural aspect since it is the driving force behind Guatemala’s development.

Without a doubt, Guatemala cannot be isolated from globalization or the prevailing era of technology that surprises us every day with its vertiginous advances. He added that our nation must be part of that current modernization and innovation that has defined the first decades of this century..

He remarked that nowadays, modernization is pursued in a broader and more significant way which entails some challenges due to the competition for spaces worldwide.

The president said, “As the pandemic has been curbed, competition is increasing to reemerge in industries such as tourism, one of the most devastated in the world by the health crisis. However, we are ready to undertake any project that creates jobs and prosperity for the Guatemalan people.”
