Guatemala City, by Lincy Rodríguez -AGN-. The Ministry of the Interior -Mingob- has seized $23 million in cocaine as part of the territorial control plan implemented to fight drug trafficking.
Law enforcement seized 1,497 cocaine packages with a total weight of 1,761 kilograms on February 28 in Coatepeque, Quetzaltenango, as part of the territorial control plan.
The seizure, led by officers of the Sub-Directorate General of Anti-Narcotics Information Analysis -SGAIA- of the National Civil Police -PNC-, in collaboration with prosecutors from the Attorney General’s Office, was successfully carried out in Coatepeque Zone 6.
The drugs were transported by air using helicopters of the Air Unit of the Ministry of the Interior -Unagob- to ensure the security of the operation. It was then taken to the warehouses of the SGAIA, where it was destroyed.
