Guatemala City, by Yuliza Muñoz. -AGN- Guatemala has received over 1.8 million travelers from January to May 2023, signaling a positive effect of Government efforts to promote tourism and economic reactivation.
The statistical bulletin of the INGUAT explains that 176,604 people arrived in the country in May alone.
This figure represents a positive increase compared to last May. That year, 138,783 people visited Guatemala, 37,821 less than in 2023. Therefore, the report highlights a positive relative variation of 27%.
INGUAT collects this information in the inbound tourism chart, which includes all visitors who are not residents of Guatemala and stayed in the country for less than a year for reasons such as business, leisure, and other paid activities. This category covers both tourists and excursionists.
