Tourism Development Plan Seeks to Promote Guatemala City

The initiative seeks to consolidate the city as one of the most attractive national and international tourism destinations.

Guatemala City, by Yuliza Muñoz -AGN-. The Guatemalan Tourism Institute -Inguat- detailed the strategy to promote tourism in Guatemala City. The primary purpose of the Tourism Development Plan is to establish the capital city as one of the most attractive destinations for local and foreign tourism.

Inguat developed an activity to present the different actions contemplated in this initiative. During the event, the authorities explained how this work is a sign of the commitment to preserving culture and promoting the country.

Urban Enhancement

The Tourism Development Plan is focused on protecting Guatemala City’s historical heritage. The plan seeks to enhance emblematic sites, promote the diversification of experiences, improve tourism infrastructure, and create higher-quality services for visitors.  It also seeks sustainability and respect for the environment.

In addition, Inguat details that with the focus on heritage conservation, diversification of experiences, and responsible promotion, the city’s profile as a tourist destination can be raised, which is a positive aspect for the country. It will generate economic opportunities for the local community and strengthen its identity internationally.

The Tourism Development Plan for Guatemala City aims to attract more tourists. It also boosts the local economy, generating employment and opportunities for the city’s citizens. 

Local tourism emphasizes the essence of simplicity and the friendly and warm hospitality with which Guatemalans welcome travelers. The authorities are strengthening this tourism segment to underscore their commitment to ensuring Guatemala’s sustainable development.
