Guatemala City, by AGN.- María Consuelo Ramírez, Secretary-General of the Presidency, reiterates a transparent, orderly, and efficient process during an interview in a national channel. The Secretary-General is a member of the Transition Commission of the Executive branch, appointed by the Guatemalan President.
The government transition is a process led by President Alejandro Giammattei that began earlier this year and aims to provide the elected administration with all the strategic information.
This process will enable the elected government to rule the country from the beginning without stopping public administration.
According to Secretary Ramirez, “The transition process has been transparent, orderly, and efficient. It has a methodology and a work timetable, consensual with the elected team.”
Furthermore, she emphasized that a digital platform had been made available containing information in an orderly and accurate manner from 79 Executive branch institutions.
Presidential Transition Act
The transmission of the presidential power is the protocolary act that occurs every four years in the Congress of the Republic. The Constitutional President of the Republic, Alejandro Giammattei, will hand over to Congress the office he assumed on 14 January 2020 after being elected by majority vote in democratic elections in 2019.
The authorities explained that the successful handover of the presidential office is another of the goals of the transition process and, at the same time, puts an end to this process.
Such actions comply with the principle of alternation of power established in the Political Constitution.
The institutional information files prepared in this transition process are a compilation of records, data, and institutional information related to the legal, political, and judicial aspects necessary for the incoming authorities.
The digital platform tool also has a classification of public information and data and files for the exclusive use of government officials.
