Guatemala City, by Yuliza Muñoz -AGN.- The Guatemalan Tourism Institute -Inguat- held the First Rural Tourism Business Meeting to promote the development and conservation of communities and the country’s natural wealth. The event took place in Guatemala City and highlighted the importance of rural tourism in attracting local and foreign visitors.
The strategy seeks to encourage more people to visit the more distant communities and villages, which offer great richness and new experiences.
Tourism Meeting
The First Rural Tourism Business Meeting included 16 rural tourism value chain entrepreneurs and 25 buyers.
The event generated 400 business appointments to boost the growth and development of the participating communities.
The director of Inguat pointed out that this is an opportunity to discover the villages’ beauty and to connect with nature.

Inguat explained that this initiative is expected to generate employment in rural areas.
The strategy seeks to encourage the conservation of landscapes, traditions, and resources and to create awareness about Guatemalan resource preservation.
Local tourism strives to highlight the Guatemalans’ simplicity, kindness, and hospitality towards tourists. The intention is to encourage travelers to explore different places in the country where they will meet people who will make their trip more enjoyable and willing to share their knowledge, experiences, and ancestral culture.
