The Attorney General of the Republic and Head of the Public Ministry, Dr. María Consuelo Porras Argueta, received from the Colombian Institute of Technical Standards and Certification -ICONTEC- the ISO 9001:2015 certification for 162 Municipal Prosecutor’s Agencies.
These agencies join the 111 that were previously certified and have renewed their certification, bringing the total to 273, which provide services with high international standards throughout the country. Likewise, the Prosecutor’s Office against the Crime of Extortion was again certified.
The certification guarantees that the Prosecutor’s Agencies develop effective workflows and have qualified personnel. They are periodically subjected to controls and assessments that evaluate their work to allow constant improvement. The project involves continuous and coordinated actions between the tax and administrative areas to achieve efficiency.
The certification process strengthens criminal prosecution contemplated in both periods of Dr. Porras Argueta’s administration. It is included in the Institutional Strategic Plans for 2018-2023 and 2023-2026.
The Public Ministry is at the forefront of security and justice institutions in Guatemala and Central America. It is the only institution with the most extensive certification granted by an external party, which validates the actions carried out to guarantee the service provided to Guatemalan citizens.
The Prosecution Agencies in the municipalities created by the Attorney General are a historic achievement that, for the first time, allow all citizens to have easy access to justice as part of their community. The ISO 9001:2015 certification guarantees that the population benefits from service with high quality and human courtesy, thus contributing to peace and harmony in all of Guatemala as a true legacy to the country.
All Prosecutor’s Agencies are expected to obtain this certification as a future project.
With these actions, the Public Ministry reaffirms its commitment to providing Guatemalans with the highest quality service and assistance, bringing justice closer to all the people of the country.
