The Public Ministry, in coordination with the National Civil Police, captured Edwin Francisco Maldonado, also known as “Pancho,” who has an extradition order pending to the United States.
The Florida Southern District Court wants Edwin Francisco Maldonado for the crime of conspiracy to distribute more than five kilograms of products containing detectable cocaine.
Authorities’ investigation identified a group of Guatemalan drug traffickers who supply and purchase cocaine.
Maldonado operated from January 2018 to March 2022, receiving shipments of cocaine from Colombia to Central America and Mexico to send it to the United States of America as its destination.
Edwin Maldonado became the fourth extraditable during 2023 for crimes related to drug trafficking. On Saturday, January 21, he was captured at the highway to Salamá, Baja Verapaz, to El Rancho, San Agustín Acasaguastlán, El Progreso.
