Chiquimula, by AGN- Authorities of the Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance -MSPAS- supervised the construction of the new hospital.
The Minister emphasized that these actions for the population’s welfare are the result of the leadership of President Alejandro Giammattei, who took on the challenge of transforming and renewing the National Health System, which is being achieved gradually. The new hospital will replace the current one, which is 50 years old.
The project design, construction, equipment, and startup have a value of USD 33.4 million to be accomplished in 756 days.
The development of the project consists of:
- 5 High-tech operating rooms
- 4 Delivery rooms
- 1 Tomograph
- 1 Magnetic resonance, radiology, and ultrasound scanner
- 5 Specialty laboratories
- 25 Adult and pediatric beds for intensive and intermediate therapy
- 180 Inpatient beds
- 22 Beds for emergencies, observation, and treatment
This service is part of the high-quality services available to Guatemalans with the new hospital in Chiquimula.
The residents of nearby communities of Jalapa, Chiquimula, and Jutiapa will also be able to benefit from the care that will be provided.
The hospital will also have technical support and X-ray equipment. It will strengthen the growth of the intensive care unit for adults, pediatrics, and neonatology.
Actions
Representatives of the Municipality of Chiquimula thanked MSPAS and the President of Guatemala for continuing to provide access to health care for the people of Chiquimula.
The department governor expressed gratitude for the new hospital that will benefit the region. He also thanked President Giammattei for prioritizing Chiquimula in his many actions for the country’s development.
It is one of several healthcare centers currently under construction, and its objective is to expand the coverage of services within the reach of every Guatemalan.
Through these actions, the Government of the President of Guatemala fulfills its commitment to provide dignified services to Guatemalans through the Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance.
