Guatemala City, by Kevin Castillo -AGN- Agents from the different units and divisions of the Subdirectorate General of Criminal Investigation -SGIC- of the National Civil Police -PNC- have dismantled sixty-seven criminal organizations from January 1 to July 31, 2023.
These results have been through research work and implementation of police strategies in the country.
Authorities from the SGIC reported that among the 527 people arrested, 251 were women, and 276 were men.
The extortion structures are the most affected, accounting for 42 groups as of July 31, with 369 members arrested.
The following results were obtained during the 766 raids carried out by the police agents:
- 32 guns
- 3 rifles
- 17 computers
- 55 hoppers
- 3 revolvers
- 6 motorcycles
- 1,243 rounds of ammunition
- 6 vehicles
- 233 cell phones
- 6 portable radios
- 5 shotguns
- 1 handmade weapon
- USD 40,379 confiscated from different gangs
Los Ventura Criminal Structure
The operations succeeded with the arrest of the criminal structure Los Ventura on July 7.
The report mentions that this structure is linked to crimes of illicit association, murder, conspiracy to commit murder, international smuggling, and providing resources for international smuggling
The following were captured in this case:
- Jairito Ventura Salguero, 30 years old.
- Edwin Ventura Villeda, 24 years old.
- Víctor Rolando Peña, 54 years old.
- Nolvin Humberto Ventura Villeda, 26 years old.
- Ricardo Pop López, 52 years old.
- César Augusto Ventura Martínez, 53 years old.
- Cristian Elmer Eberto Reyes Reyes, 29 years old.
The police officers confiscated:
- 3 Rifles
- 5 Handguns
- 31 Ammunition clips
- 407 Rounds of ammunition
- 8 Portable radios
- 1 telescopic scope
- 4 Cell phones.
This criminal gang has been under investigation since 2022.
The PNC authorities provide their numbers to ensure citizens’ safety and continue to target more criminal organizations.
