The Ministry of National Defense Received Representatives from the  Elected Authorities

The Ministry of National Defense held the first transition meeting.

Guatemala City, by Yuliza Muñoz -AGN- The Ministry of National Defense -Mindef- received delegates of the elected authorities as part of the sector meetings for the change of government.

Minister Henry Yovani Reyes Chigua was in charge of reporting on the various actions developed by land, sea, and air units. He stated, “The Ministry of National Defense gave the first transition presentation.”

Christian Esaú Espinoza Sandoval and Ismael Cifuentes Bustamante represented the two elected officials who learned about the results of the objectives set by the Guatemalan Army within the context of the General Government Policy 2020-2024.

The Ambassador of the Organization of American States, Diego Paz, and the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Rafael Rodríguez, were also part of the Government Transition Commission.

Meeting 

During the meeting, the projects and programs implemented for the security of the population and the strengthening of the Army’s capabilities were presented individually.

The minister of defense stated, “Today, the results achieved by the Guatemalan Army were introduced based on the five pillars of the government’s general policy.”

He highlighted points such as the humanitarian support and road maintenance provided by the Army, among other social development initiatives.

The minister also mentioned how the Guatemalan Army has carried out operations to maintain the governability of our country. Specifically, military operations in which it has supported the humanitarian rescue brigade in cases of natural disasters.”

These meetings are of great importance to give continuity to the development strategies focused on the well-being of Guatemalans. In this way, the people in charge of the Ministry of National Defense know the work developed during these four years so that they can follow up on it.
