The Government of Guatemala Underscores Strategies For Economic Transformation

President Giammattei discussed with Newsweek the actions carried out by Guatemala.

Guatemala City, Yuliza Muñoz -AGN- The Government of Guatemala explained the actions implemented for the country’s economic transformation. President Alejandro Giammattei pointed out the strategy of Guatemala Moving Forward during an interview with Gabriela Sánchez from Newsweek, a New York-based media.

As a response to the social challenges that affected the world, President Giammattei created a plan to keep the sustainability of the Guatemalan economy. 

President Giammattei stated, “It was not about the fight for economic recovery but to achieve the country’s economic transformation.”

Economic Growth Goals

The Guatemala Moving Forward strategy focuses on creating  partnerships for economic growth.

The American publication highlighted the two goals of this project. The first one is strengthening the most efficient sectors to increase exports; the second one is attracting new investments, considering the competitiveness advantages of the region.

Therefore, President Giammattei explained that Guatemala has been the object of studies by large companies interested in working jointly. That is why actions to strengthen Guatemalans to meet the needs and demands of worldwide standards.

Sustainability Actions

The Ministry of Economy -Mineco- authorities have recently presented actions to boost the economy, including Guatemala’s participation in the World Economic Forum in Switzerland.

The President’s actions in promoting Guatemala at different European fairs, work visits to the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the Dominican Republic, and the Forum of the Americas upon the United States President’s invitation have been highly praised. 

These plans aim at sharing with the world the nearshoring strategy that presents  Guatemala as one of the most competitive countries in the region.
