Guatemala City, by -AGN- The Women´s Entrepreneurs Day is commemorated internationally.
The Government of Guatemala has promoted various initiatives to empower women.
Government institutions implement programs for women entrepreneurs, including training, product exhibition spaces, credit, and other activities to improve women’s capabilities.
Also, it highlights the virtues that make them a fundamental pillar for the development of their family and the country.
Support
Through the Improvement of Women’s Socioeconomic Conditions program of the Secretariat of Social Works of the President’s Wife -SOSEP-, 129,000 women have trained during 2020 and 2023.
This project intends to train women from different communities to become entrepreneurs and thus improve their quality of life and their families.
The women strengthen their skills in preparing dishes, desserts, and various handcrafts for commercialization.
International Alliances
Focused on actions to benefit women entrepreneurs, the Government of Guatemala has joined efforts with international cooperating partners such as the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan).
At least USD 4 billion has been invested to support women entrepreneurs in Guatemala.
The Ministry of Economy and the Chinese (Taiwan) authorities have worked in favor of women as part of the Economic Reactivation and Women’s Empowerment Initiative -Canac-.
The program has benefited businesswomen and entrepreneurs who participate in various activities to develop business knowledge and skills.
The authorities mention that 365 women benefited from technical courses, 966 women trained in management matters, and 424 SMEs led by women have benefited from training and consulting services.
The Chinese (Taiwan) authorities have also provided approximately USD 6 million to 459 women entrepreneurs and businesswomen to implement this strategy.
The funds include plans such as Angel Capital (from investors), seed funds, and awards to the best women entrepreneurs.
