The 25th General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization is Underway

The assembly will be held from October 16 to 20 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, to address topics crucial to tourism development.

Guatemala City, by Yuliza Muñoz -AGN- Guatemala is participating in the 25th meeting of the World Tourism Organization General Assembly -UNWTO-. 

The Guatemalan Tourism Institute -Inguat- announced that this event is a platform for participating countries to collaborate and share knowledge on good development practices.

Assembly

This assembly is one of the most important for the tourism sector in the world. Officials and representatives of the private sector participate in this forum. It is held every two years and is organized by the World Tourism Organization.

This year’s assembly aims to establish the UNWTO’s work program, which includes activities and projects to be developed in the coming years.

It also aims to elect the UNWTO secretary general, who will lead the organization for four years.

This encounter also aims to address key issues for tourism development in each of the involved regions.

The activities included in the assembly include a  Tourism Statistics Committee, a session for affiliated members, the European Commission, three sessions of the General Assem, an Investment Forum, an Education Forum, and awards to the best tourism villages.

Guatemala’s participation in these activities underscores the commitment of authorities to implement action plans to make the country internationally known.

It also demonstrates the commitment to coordinating with Central American countries to promote greater cultural understanding.
