Sosep Certified Women Entrepreneurs’ Skills

At least 82 women were recognized for their bag manufacturing skills.

Guatemala City. By Yuliza Muñoz -AGN- The Secretariat of Social Works of the President’s Wife -SOSEP- certified the skills of 82 women as part of the program for the Improvement of Women’s Socioeconomic Conditions.

The agency reported that women were praised for their skills in producing plastic string bags and fruit and vegetable packaging.

It was coordinated by the General Directorate of Extracurricular Education of the Ministry of Education -Mineduc- and the Department of Fruit Growing and Agroindustry of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food -MAGA-.

Assistance program

Improving the Socioeconomic Conditions of Women is a program that seeks to promote the participation of women in society through institutional support for entrepreneurship. The women who benefit from this program can convert or strengthen their source of household income.

The initiative seeks to improve productive organization using units that allow for the comprehensive development of families.

Moreover, this support project is designed to enhance the competencies and skills of women to generate more income for their families. One of the priorities of this program is the promotion of food and nutritional security in pursuit of good feeding practices and the well-being of children.

Women are trained to improve their quality of life and that of their families by acquiring knowledge in different areas where they can develop and create new income opportunities.

The Government of Guatemala is using these actions to promote economic growth and facilitate income generation for families.
