Guatemala City, by Brenda Larios -AGN-, María Consuelo Ramírez, the Secretary-General of the Presidency, highlighted President Alejandro Giammattei’s political will in the 2023-2024 transition process.
During an interview on a radio program, she underscored the willingness evident in meetings with elected authorities. Secretary Ramírez emphasized how this process is unique in history and conveyed President Alejandro Giammattei’s political will and vision, which have been fundamental in every step.
As the head of the General Secretariat of the Presidency, she is part of the Executive Transition Commission appointed by President Giammattei.
OAS Support
In the radio interview, the Secretary-General emphasized that this process is unique in history and has the support of the Organization of American States -OAS-.
During her intervention, Secretary-General Ramírez stated, “In fact, we have had the pleasant satisfaction of positive comments, even from the Organization of American States, which had not seen a transition process like this at the Latin American level.”
Since the beginning of the transition meetings, the OAS has been present at each event, from OAS Secretary-General Luis Almagro on September 4 and September 11 to high-ranking officials of the Executive and the President and Vice President-elects.
The support includes the participation of OAS delegates, especially Diego Paz, in sector meetings in ministries and secretariats.
The Meetings
Secretary-General Ramírez also highlighted that the transition process is in the sector meetings phase according to the methodology approved by the central government and elected authorities.
She detailed that the process has involved 12 ministries and nine secretariats, and some ministries have had more than one sector meeting, such as the Ministry of Energy and Mines.
The Secretariat of Food and Nutritional Security -Sesan- will hold the next sector meeting. With this appointment, the ten presidential secretariats requested by the elected authorities will have completed the sector meetings.
