The administration of Dr. María Consuelo Porras Argueta as Attorney General of the Republic and Head of the Public Ministry has been marked by implementing actions that allow management processes to be carried out with quality standards, which ensure effective service for the victims.

The Colombian Institute of Technical Standards and Certification -Icontec- audited another 162 prosecuting agencies in Municipalities to obtain the international ISO 9001:2015 certification.

The external audit carried out by Icontec in each of the prosecuting agencies in Municipalities determined that they have the foundations to develop effective processes and competent personnel, as well as measurement and monitoring controls that allow continuous evaluation and improvement.

All this as a result of  the efforts of the Quality Management System, which worked with support processes made up of administrative and financial areas to provide these agencies with equipment, supplies, and human resources, among others. Likewise, the staff from the different prosecuting agencies in municipalities received training in ISO 9001:2015 standards. The efficiency indicators and user satisfaction were established and monitored, thus ensuring that they were eligible for this quality certification.

Prosecuting agencies must demonstrate general knowledge and application of the relevant regulations (internal and external) to obtain international certification. Also, they must establish and follow up on feedback mechanisms with users, such as complaint books and user service mailboxes. The agencies must demonstrate good relations and communication with interested parties such as municipalities, civil society, and other security and justice sector institutions involved. In addition, they  must prove  that they have taken actions to solve detected nonconformities, as well as the improvements to provide a quality and friendly service.

It is expected that the certification will be extended to the 162 agencies audited in November of this year, adding to the 111 that already have this recognition for a total of 273 prosecuting agencies. In addition, the municipalities must facilitate access to justice through total coverage and guarantee quality, promptness, efficiency, and cordiality to the population.

These results position the Public Ministry as a leader within the justice branch in implementing these international ISO standards, which guarantees access to justice with the appropriate attention in response to each person who trusts the institution when filing a complaint.
