Guatemala City, by Jenny Herrera -AGN- During his New Year’s address, President Alejandro Giammattei highlighted the achievements obtained through the transition process.
He stated, “We must emphasize the transition process, a historic achievement for Guatemala.”
During the second phase of the process, the Government set up transition offices in the different ministries and secretariats so that the elected authorities could have access to information regarding the institution in a proper space in the governmental offices. According to the 2023-2024 Transition Report delivered on December 6 in the Salón Banderas of the National Palace of Culture, more than 80 sector meetings were conducted with the team of the elected authorities.
The first phase entailed compiling and delivering information in institutional folders and on a digital platform. The third phase consisted of the delivery of the 2023-2024 Transition Report.
President Giammattei stated during his message, “We reaffirm our commitment to the rule of law and the constitutional principle of alternation in power, guaranteeing the transmission of command on January 14.”
Efficient, orderly, and transparent transition
President Giammattei described the transition process: “We can feel satisfied because this process was carried out efficiently, orderly, and transparently.”
On September 4, 2023, the first transition meeting took place at the Presidential Office with the elected officials. On that occasion, President Giammattei said he would efficiently, orderly, and transparently carry out the transition process. For this purpose, he gave instructions to his transition team, which was in charge of the entire process.
