Guatemala City, by Yuliza Muñoz -AGN-. President Bernardo Arévalo shared important points from his working visit to Europe. His third stop was France, where he held meetings with different officials to strengthen cooperation ties and address issues such as the fight against corruption and investment attraction.
The president shared about the meetings in that country through social media. He began by referring to the meeting with the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, which he described as cordial and successful. According to Arévalo, the French President supported the Guatemalan Government and its struggle for democracy.
He also discussed his request to Macron to give the French Development Agency a mandate to promote projects in the country.

He also mentioned the meeting with the Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization -Unesco- Audrey Azoulay, where they addressed different initiatives regarding culture and education in Guatemala.
He met with the Development Assistance Committee authorities of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development -OECD- and the French Business Movement. He explained that the latter group was presented with Guatemala’s development perspective to involve them in initiatives contributing to the country’s sustainability.
Working visit
After concluding his agenda in France, President Arévalo traveled to Switzerland and met with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. In Switzerland, he also met with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and International Olympic Committee officials.
President Arévalo’s European visit will end in Madrid, Spain. He will meet with King Felipe VI and the President of the Spanish Government there. He is also expected to meet with the Mayor of Madrid and attend a business conference coordinated by the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations.
Finally, he will visit the World Tourism Organization and the General Secretariat of Ibero-America.
