Guatemala City, by Brenda Larios -AGN-. President Bernardo Arévalo stressed that his administration will promote actions to work jointly with local governments to guarantee the efficiency and improvement of services for the Guatemalan people.
The president highlighted through his social networks that he met with the Mayor of Antigua Guatemala, Juan Manuel Asturias. In the meeting, they discussed strategies to promote and strengthen actions from local governments that allow openness and transparency for the benefit of the citizens.
He emphasized that Guatemala will be able to progress with the support of municipalities.
Presidential support
According to the Mayor of Antigua Guatemala, at the meeting at the presidential office in the Palacio Nacional de la Cultura, they addressed strengthening open government and transparent local governments to ensure more efficient and better services for all.
He underscored that he is pleased with the support of the presidency and the Government of Guatemala.
Juan Manuel Asturias took office as Mayor of Antigua Guatemala on January 15 and offered structural changes in the municipality’s administration.
Other meetings
President Arévalo attended the inauguration ceremony of Guatemala City’s Mayor, Ricardo Quiñonez Lemus, and the new municipal corporation.
President of the Judicial Branch, Óscar Ruperto Cruz Oliva, and the Apostolic Nuncio, Monsignor Francisco Montecillo, attended the ceremony.
During the ceremony, President Arévalo signed the “Libro de Oro de la Ciudad de Guatemala,” symbolizing the commitment and responsibility assumed by the Constitutional President of the Republic and the Mayor at the beginning of this term.
