Guatemala City, by Yuliza Muñoz -AGN- In an official statement, President Alejandro Giammattei emphasized the existing democracy in the country and underscored the respect for the separation of powers and the rule of law.
In response to the Organization of American States (OAS) resolution regarding the situation in Guatemala, the president explained that democratic legal norms govern the nation. He also noted that the actions taken are aligned with democratic principles, the separation of powers, and respect for the rule of law.
According to the press release, “Guatemala is a democratic republic, and the principle of due process governs its internal legal norms, the separation and independence of powers, and the unrestricted respect for the Rule of Law. Matters about our nation must be resolved under this legal framework.”
President Giammattei emphasized that the nation’s affairs must be resolved considering these values.
On several occasions, the president has mentioned his commitment to the citizens and their well-being. He has emphasized that he respects the rule of law and the independence of powers.
The Executive branch has recognized that democracy depends on the people and provides opportunities for political decisions and participatory and peaceful processes.
It is evidenced by the development of the transition process, which has been conducted in an orderly and transparent manner. The current administration has provided all possible information on the work of the institutions that comprise the government so that the elected authorities have a good understanding of the country’s situation and can continue with the projects that contribute to the country’s development.
The government has also given instructions to provide the elected officials with the necessary support and resources. For this process, both teams have worked together to create better opportunities for the population.
