President Alejandro Giammattei Met with Nigerian Ambassador

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs -Minex- held the first Seminar of Concurrent Ambassadors for Guatemala in the capital on April 13 and 14.

Guatemala City, by Brenda Larios -AGN- President Alejandro Giammattei met with Nigeria’s Ambassador Rafiu Adejare Bello at the Presidential House on Tuesday, Oct. 31.

“Pleased to meet Nigerian Ambassador Rafiu Adejare Bello at the Presidential House, with whom we addressed issues of common interest, cooperation, and strengthened bilateral relations,” stated President Alejandro Giammattei on his official X, Formerly Known As Twitter account. 

Since 2001, Guatemala and Nigeria have maintained diplomatic relations. The Nigerian ambassador is concurrently the ambassador for Guatemala.

After the meeting, the diplomat extended his gratitude to the president and the people of Guatemala for their hospitality during his tenure as Nigeria’s concurrent ambassador. Ambassador Adejare underscored that he was pleased to meet with President Giammattei and inform him of his official return to Nigeria on November 1 after concluding his main duty in Guatemala.

After the meeting, the diplomat extended his gratitude to the president and the people of Guatemala for their hospitality during his tenure as Nigeria’s concurrent ambassador. Ambassador Adejare underscored that he was pleased to meet with President Giammattei and inform him of his official return to Nigeria on November 1 after concluding his main duty in Guatemala.

The ambassador indicated that his mission in the country spanned over three years and had been a delightful experience since his arrival at the airport. He expressed his wish that his successor would have a pleasant experience in the country as well.

He emphasized that Nigeria is rich in resources, and they believe Guatemala could consider investment opportunities there. Ambassador Adejare promised President Giammattei that, shortly, there would be a Nigerian embassy in Guatemala and requested Guatemala’s cooperation for a physical presence in Abuja, the Nigerian capital, known as “The Beautiful City.”

Seminar

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs -Minex- held the first seminar of concurrent ambassadors for Guatemala on April 13 and 14 of this year in Guatemala City.

The seminar’s goal was to strengthen binational diplomatic relations and endorse the country’s commitment to advance political, economic-commercial, cultural, and development issues at the bilateral level.


The activity was held on the instructions of President Giammattei and gathered representatives from 25 countries with the vision of reaffirming the high value that Guatemala attaches to international relations.

In this regard, the Ambassador of Nigeria participated in the seminar, along with other diplomats. The concurrent ambassadors and business representatives in the United States, Mexico, and Latin America visited the Academy of Diplomacy and the Minex library.
