President Alejandro Giammattei Arrives in the Republic of China (Taiwan)

The president of Guatemala will hold meetings with authorities of the Asian nation to strengthen friendship and cooperation ties.

Guatemala City, by Veylin Herrera -AGN- The official Guatemalan delegation, led by President Giammattei, arrived in the Republic of China (Taiwan.)

According to the Press Secretary of Social Communication of the Presidency, the Guatemalan delegation arrived in the country to begin the official visit of the head of government after the invitation from the Honorable President of the Republic of China (Taiwan,) Tsai Ing-wen, during her working visit to Guatemala.

The Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Public Finance,  Economy and other officials comprised the Guatemalan delegation. The representatives were received by the Taiwanese Foreign Minister, Jaushieh Joseph Wu, and the ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Guatemala, Miguel Li-jey Tsao.

“We are happy to start this visit in the Republic of China (Taiwan.) It is our partner, ally, friend, and above all, a brotherly nation that fights for its sovereignty and freedom,” said the President in a message on his social media.

President Alejandro Giammattei also hoped that his official visit to the friendly country would be rewarding for both nations.

About the Visit

The Executive recalled that the visit of the Guatemalan president will take place from April 24 to 26.

In this regard, President Giammattei will hold meetings with the nation’s authorities to strengthen friendship and cooperation ties.

They will discuss topics related to the economy, investment, and product promotion, among others. This is within Guatemala’s diplomatic relations with the Republic of China (Taiwan.)

About the Agenda

During  the visit, President Giammattei will deliver a speech at the Legislative Yuan, where he will receive the Honorary Medal for Parliamentary Diplomacy from the President of Congress, You Si-kun.

In addition, he will have a meeting with the Honorable President of the Republic of China (Taiwan.) In this regard, both presidents will make national and international media statements.

It is expected that Guatemalan scholarship recipients residing in that nation will have a meeting with President Giammattei.

Meanwhile, the Guatemalan President will participate in activities to promote Guatemalan coffee and products made by small and medium-sized national entrepreneurs with the White Seal distinctive.

With this, the authorities aim to maximize opportunities for Guatemalans to access international markets and boost the economy.

Economic Boost

Activities include presenting Guatemala’s competitive advantages as an investment destination. The Guatemalan delegation is scheduled to participate in seminars on trade and investment. Additionally, President Giammattei will visit Taiwanese companies interested in bringing their industrial model to the country.

The authorities plan to sign a nearshoring contract to strengthen the production of important articles for both nations.

Likewise, the strategy aims to generate more employment in the Guatemalan territory.

At the end of his official visit to the Republic of China (Taiwan,) good news are expected for the Guatemalan population regarding the economy.
