Guatemala City, by Julio Morales -AGN- The Ministry of the Interior -Mingob- reported finding 1,062 packages of cocaine after testing.
This resulted from the coordination of the Anti-Narcotics Vice Minister and the General Subdirectorate for Analysis of Anti-Narcotics Information -SGAIA- of the National Civil Police -PNC.-
Authorities reported that the drug was being transported in a boat when Officers of the National Defense Navy intercepted it.
This operation was conducted on la perla del mar shark fishing boat intercepted in Puerto San José, Escuintla.
Coordinated Work
The operation also received the support of the Public Prosecutor’s Office for Drug Trafficking Crimes of the Public Ministry. They seized 55 packages of tulas, which were transferred to the facilities of the Pacific Naval Command.
A total of 1,062 packages were reported to be presumptive positive for cocaine. This shipment is valued at USD 14.3 million.
The Details
The boat was carrying the flag of Ecuador, and inside barrels of gasoline and a satellite phone were located.
The Ministry of the Interior stated that, through coordinated actions in the fight against this crime, significant results had been achieved in the seizure of drugs, as well as the apprehension of individuals for extradition to the United States.
The President of Guatemala has instructed to continue actions to fight drug trafficking and transnational organized crime.
