Guatemala City, by Brenda Larios -AGN- To legalize the migratory situation in Guatemala, more than 15,000 people have been located in the country who were traveling irregularly through the territory.

Records of the Guatemalan Migration Institute -IGM- show that from January to September 17 of this year, 15,170 people have been rejected from the country.

These actions are a priority for the safety of the country. During the operatives, assistance is provided to people who do not comply with the established requirements, and after the legal actions, they are rejected from the Guatemalan territory.

Operation in Chiquimula

On September 21, the interinstitutional operation was carried out on the road Agua Caliente, Chiquimula.

The efforts to secure the borders, mainly with Honduras, are conducted by the Guatemalan Army and the National Civil Police.

During recent weeks, there has been an increase in the irregular migratory flow, mainly of Venezuelan and Haitian citizens, who enter the country through unauthorized crossing.
