Guatemala City, by Brenda Larios -AGN- President Alejandro Giammattei participated this week in the oath ceremony of the new Chief Justice of the Judicial Branch -OJ- and of the Supreme Court of Justice -CSJ- for the 2023-2024 term.
Judge Oscar Ruperto Cruz Oliva was elected to this position. In this event, the magistrates of the CSJ were also sworn in for the 2019–2024 term in the great hall of the Supreme Court of Justice.
About the Ceremony
Shirley Rivera, President of the Congress of the Republic, fulfilled the constitutional mandate by swearing in the new Chief Justice of the Judiciary.
President Giammattei handed over the badge and emblem to the new Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Justice.
The new Chief Justice signed the golden book of the Judicial Branch. During his message, he indicated that this new administration would improve the actions in the Judicial Branch. “It is time for a change in the Judiciary; it is time to strengthen the judicial service in the country; we will work for that change to come.”
