Guatemala City, by Julio Morales -AGN- In the work visit to Guatemala, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, acknowledged the efforts made by the administration of President Alejandro Giammattei.
“Guatemala has proven to be a great country with values that stand up for international law and cherishes its friends.” Minister Kuleba stated.
He also added that Guatemala is a great friend of Ukraine, and they support what has been achieved under the leadership of the President of Guatemala.
“We look forward to furthering our bilateral relations in trade, digitalization, and other areas to strengthen the relationship for both nations,” Minster Kuleba concluded.
Guatemala has kept diplomatic relations with Ukraine for the past 30 years. Throughout this time, both countries have highlighted their concern for preserving peace.
On several occasions, the Government of Guatemala has reiterated its support and willingness to encourage dialogue for resolving conflicts seeking peaceful conditions and respect for sovereignty when Ukraine faces difficult situations.
The Guatemalan President Alejandro Giammattei, met with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in Kyiv in August 2022 to offer him support.
Ukraine and the European Union authorities praised the President’s visit. and the foreign media highlighted it.
Other Ukrainian officials
On March 1, 2023, President Giammattei received the official visit of the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andrii Melnyk.
The meeting occurred at the Presidential House, where Melnyk thanked the support the Government of Guatemala provided to Ukraine.
During the meeting, Vice Minister Melnyk thanked the President for appointing him as a messenger of peace in a ceremony on February 28, 2023.
