Guatemala City, by Brenda Larios -AGN- The governments of Guatemala and Israel commemorated 75 years of bilateral relations with a photographic exhibition at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs offices in Guatemala.
During the event, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mario Búcaro, reaffirmed the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
Minister Búcaro stated in his speech, “It is a true honor for me to speak in commemoration of 75 years of bilateral relations between Israel and Guatemala. Today, I can highlight that this relationship is built on cooperation, mutual trust, and friendship.”
Minister Búcaro emphasized that this relationship began on May 14, 1948, when Israel signed its Declaration of Independence in Tel Aviv.
Photographic Exhibition
A photographic exhibition titled “History of an Enduring Relationship: Guatemala-Israel” was unveiled as part of the activities. It includes images of key moments in developing friendship between the two nations.
The Israeli Ambassador to Guatemala, Yiftah Curiel, expressed his gratitude for the support that our country’s support to Israel. He particularly mentioned the solidarity expressed after the recent terrorist attacks on Israeli territory. He also indicated that the shared values of both nations have been crucial in strengthening ties at all levels.

The commemorative event featured videos about Israel and its history, the book “The Path of Israel 1947-1949” by Guatemalan author Kevin Zea, and the poetry book “Soul” by national writer Alejandra Santiago, inspired by Israeli cities.
Strengthening Relations
Representing the Government of Guatemala, Minister Mario Búcaro highlighted Israel’s significant international influence. He also emphasized the long-standing friendship and cooperation between Guatemala and Israel and the mutual respect, cordiality, and fraternity shared between the two countries. He underscored that this diplomatic relationship is going through its best moment.
Furthermore, Minister Búcaro stressed that Guatemala has always highly valued its friendship with Israel as a good friend and ally, collaborating with a deep commitment on mutually beneficial issues.
With the organization of this event, the Government of Guatemala reaffirms its commitment to strengthening relations with the world.
