Guatemala City, by Lincy Rodríguez -AGN-. The Ministry of the Interior -Mingob- and the National Civil Police -PNC- announced the successful closing of 2023, highlighting considerable achievements in police qualification.
One of the most important achievements was the implementation of a wage raise of 1,200 Quetzals for police and administrative staff. The measure, according to official sources, seeks to recognize and value the hard work carried out by police officers in the performance of their duties.
The authorities also delivered 8,000 bulletproof vests and 5,000 firearms to officers to strengthen security conditions and essential equipment for daily work.
Food and Welfare Guarantee
In addition, to improve the living conditions of PNC members, nine diners were set up, where free food is offered through the distribution of 16 thousand meals. These diners represent an economic benefit and eliminate the risks of finding places to eat.
Byron Bor Illescas, Minister of the Interior, highlighted the importance of these actions. He also emphasized that the new feeding facilities provide ideal conditions for the professional development of the officers.
The initiative represents a monthly savings of 1,800 quetzals for each officer and eliminates the risks related to the search for places to eat.
Adal Rodríguez Najarro, Director General of the PNC, emphasized that the food portions contribute to maintaining a balanced diet for police officers. He also announced plans to implement a mobile dining room in the medium term. The aim is to improve the conditions and attention of police officers during the execution of operations throughout the country.
According to Rodríguez Najarro, these measures will further strengthen the welfare and performance of the officers in their duties.
