Guatemala City, by Yuliza Muñoz -AGN- To strengthen trade and investment ties with Mexico, Guatemalan officials met entrepreneurs from Yucatán.
The Chamber of Industry of Guatemala -CIG- held for the second time a business roundtable to promote trade with the South of Mexico. Among the attendees at the event was the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
According to the president of the CIG, these activities are important for the sector because they promote commercial trade between countries. He also underscored t
he importance of expanding into a market with great potential, such as Mexico.
Working Meeting
During the event, under the slogan “Industry, an engine of development,” at least 100 business appointments were scheduled with 12 companies from different sectors, including:
- Food
- Beverages
- Plastic packaging
- Pallets and platforms
- Textiles
- Metal structures
- Logistics services
- Industrial maintenance consultancy
The president of the CIG announced that as representatives of the country’s formal productive sector, they constantly seek to carry out actions to promote the industry. They are convinced that this is fundamental for the economic growth and development of the country.
Commercial Trade with Mexico
The Bank of Guatemala data reflects that in 2022 Guatemala’s exports with Mexico reached US$690 million.
The president of the CIG stated, “These figures indicate a growth of 16.3% compared to 2021.”
The two nations formalized their bilateral relationship on September 6, 1848. For one hundred and seventy-five years, both countries have strengthened the existing bond by facing standard stages of institutionalization. On several occasions, the Mexican authorities have highlighted their gratitude to the people of Guatemala. They have also expressed the commitment between the countries to face the challenges of the international market.
