Guatemala City, by Yuliza Muñoz -AGN- Guatemalan Institute of Tourism is coordinating activities to attract visitors to Guatemala to promote the country as one of the best tourist destinations for the upcoming August holidays.
Recently, the institution conducted a visit tour with travel agencies in El Salvador. The activity aims to promote Guatemala’s tourist attractions internationally to increase the flow of travelers during the traditional activities in August.
During the tours organized by Inguat, participants visited various attractions in Las Verapaces and Huehuetenango.

It is a vacation period celebrated from the 1st to the 6th of August in honor of the Divino Salvador del Mundo.
During these holidays, thousands of Salvadorans visit different tourist destinations in Guatemala. This season is important for the tourism sector. Last year, a high number of visitors from El Salvador were registered.
According to Inguat information, the numbers increased after the end of the pandemic. With the country’s reopening in 2022, a significant economic benefit was achieved.
In 2022, 54,699 Salvadoran tourists entered the country during the first six days of August. This generated an income of more than USD 16.7 million, representing an increase of 75% compared to 2021.
