Guatemala City, by Yuliza Muñoz -AGN- During the tenth emergency special session of the United Nations General Assembly, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mario Búcaro, on behalf of Guatemala, condemned the attacks against Israel.
“This General Assembly must act to reduce polarization and discourage hate speech and actions.“ stated Minister Búcaro, who spoke on the terrorist acts committed by Hamas.
He also referred to the Hezbollah terrorist group’s attacks on the Israeli people and quoted former Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir. She said that if the Arab groups would lay down their arms today, there would be no more violence. But if the Israelis would lay down their arms, there would be no State of Israel.
Minister Búcaro said, “We also condemn the attacks by the Hezbollah terrorist group on Israel, which violate the resolution establishing the blue line, the border between Lebanon and Israel, and have claimed the lives of both Israeli and Palestinian civilians.”
Solidarity with Israel
President Alejandro Giammattei has referred to the attacks against Israel as a sign of solidarity and expressed his solidarity with the Israeli people. He also sent his condolences to the families of the victims.
President Giammattei also expressed his concern about the acts of aggression through his official social media channels. In his message, he underscored the Guatemalan people’s condolences and support to Israel in this moment of difficulty due to the unjustified attacks. He also conveyed profound solidarity with the families of the victims.
For 75 years, Guatemala and Israel have maintained an excellent relationship strengthened by cooperation and friendship. Together, these two nations have worked for binational development and growth. Both countries also share common values and interests, reaffirming the deep understanding and fraternity between them.
