Cruise Ship Season 2023-2024 Kicks Off

Guatemala City, by Yuliza Muñoz -AGN- The Guatemalan Tourism Institute -Inguat- welcomed the 2023-2024 cruise ship season.

During an official ceremony in Puerto Quetzal, the tourist authorities welcomed this season and shared with visitors the beauties that Guatemala offers, wishing them an enjoyable stay there.

The first visitors

At Port Quetzal, the MS Silver Wind cruise ship of Silversea Lines arrived from Huatulco, Mexico, and headed to Puntarenas, Costa Rica. It accommodated 226 passengers and 220 crew members, who, during their stay, enjoyed the various wonders of Guatemala.

The visitors had as destinations iconic places such as Antigua, Guatemala, and the Pacaya Volcano.

Afterward, the cruise ship Vista of Oceania Cruises arrived in the country, also docking at Puerto Quetzal. This one came from Puntarenas, Costa Rica, and was bound for Acapulco, Mexico.

Inguat staff was in charge of welcoming the 1,205 passengers and 770 crew members aboard this cruise ship. During their visit, foreigners learned about Guatemala’s cultural, natural, and gastronomic richness.

As part of the activities, Inguat, together with Port Quetzal, inaugurated the second gate, Puerta Turismo, for the arrival of more cruise ships and to provide a new opportunity for the country’s tourism sector.
