Guatemala City, by Brenda Larios -AGN.- The Ministry of Education -Mineduc- has assisted 46,514 children through the Comprehensive Child Development Centers -Cecodii-. According to data shared by the authorities, the Cecodii have registered children from 0 to 4 years of age.
In addition, the project benefits 1,197 pregnant women and 7,879 nursing mothers.
The centers are part of the actions developed at the national level within the Food and Nutritional Security Strategy.
Records
According to records of the Ministry of Education, the services provided through the Cecodii increased during this administration, reaching:
- 2019: 18, 740 minors.
- 2023: 46, 514 beneficiaries
This program is supported by the Secretariat of Food and Nutritional Security, which promotes community participation in nutritional matters to eradicate cases of acute malnutrition identified in various areas of the country.
Cecodii Facilities
The Ministry of Education recently opened 14 Cecodii in Panzós, Alta Verapaz. They will benefit 1,335 children from 0 to 4 years old.
Other Cecodii are located in 14 other municipalities.
