Guatemala City, by Lincy Rodríguez. -AGN-. During a press conference, Kevin López Oliva, Press Secretary of the Presidency, and Iván Espinoza, Ambassador and Coordinator, announced the agenda for the transmission of power ceremony in Guatemala, planned for January 14, 2024.
The transition process, with over 80 sector meetings and 50 requests for information, was completed. It opened the way for the upcoming activities under a solid legal basis.
International delegations, heads of state, and international organizations will arrive on January 13 to participate in the activities. That day, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., the official greeting and farewell to President Giammattei will take place in the Salón Banderas of the National Palace of Culture, followed by a reception in the Patio de la Paz.
January 14 will be a day full of events. The first phase will start from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., with the solemn session and the election of the new board of Congress.

The second phase, in the Efraín Recinos Hall at the Miguel Ángel Asturias Cultural Center, will host the inauguration ceremony of the newly elected government from 15:00 to 17:00 hours. From 18:30 to 20:00, the new government will salute the Guatemalan people at the Plaza de la Constitución.
On January 15, the main events will be the Solemn Tedeum at the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Army honors at the Plaza de la Constitución. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched the official website to provide information on the 2024 Presidential Transmission of Power and to consult the details of programs and manuals organized for representatives of delegations and journalists; accreditation is now available.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs -Minex- plays a fundamental role in guaranteeing the success of this significant event, leading the coordination with the institutions of the Executive branch and the Congress of the Republic.
