Guatemala City, Daniel Coromac (AGN). – President Bernardo Arévalo met with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, within the context of the Munich Security Conference.
It is Arévalo’s first approach to Ukraine as president. He reiterated the position of the Government of Guatemala to reinforce the need to build peaceful and durable solutions.
The Ukrainian President posted on social media, “I met with President of Guatemala, Bernardo Arévalo, and invited him to participate in the inaugural Global Peace Summit at the level of heads of state. I am grateful for supporting Ukraine, our sovereignty, and territorial integrity. It is important for us to have strong bilateral relations.”

Iryna Borovets, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine, also commented on her social networks. She described the meeting as very productive, adding that her government will continue pursuing cooperation between Guatemala and Ukraine.
Zelenskyy has had meetings with representatives of several countries, including Guatemala, due to the crisis in his country due to the war with Russia.
About the agenda
This is just one of the Guatemalan president’s meetings with European world leaders. Arévalo will continue his visit through Europe, passing through France on February 19 to meet with the heads of the United Nations Educational Organization and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
On February 20, he will meet with the President of the European Council and the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. On February 21, he will travel to Switzerland to meet with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and senior officials of the International Olympic Committee.

Finally, he will land in Spain, where he will hold meetings with King Felipe VI in response to a direct invitation, as well as with President Pedro Sánchez. In addition, President Arévalo will attend a business conference to encourage investors to bring their capital to our country and translate it into jobs. He will also hold dialogues with the authorities of the World Tourism Organization and the Ibero-American Secretary General in Madrid.
President Arévalo seeks to strengthen economic development alliances and address migration problems. All on his first international trip since taking over the presidency of Guatemala.
